OLD AGE BLUES

Old age is pain and suffering,
Both physical and mental;
The mortal body starts decaying,
The slow mind keeps on forgetting!
Various diseases prey on the fragile body,
Eyes taken over by cataract,
Limbs by diabetes
Mind by dementia,
Teeth by general decay,
Bones becoming brittle
And muscles degenerate!
What awful fate awaits,
For those who linger but cannot vacate;
Terrified and horrifying thoughts lurk each day,
The mortal machinery needs complete overhauling,
But which hospital can do a better job,
What hope is there for all of us who grow old,
Waiting for Death to reap and harvest,
The mortal body that remain unclaimed!
BLESSED ARE THEY WHO VACATE BEFORE DISEASES START TO PREY,
AND DEVOUR OUR BODY BIT BY BIT!
