THE WINTER YEARS

When the mercury column starts to decrease,
Warm air slowly becomes icy and cold!
We need more fuel daily to increase,
The warmth which we used to!

Cold icy winds gnaw through our old bones,
And make all our joints stiff with pain,
We even breathe out clouds of smoke,
Though we are not having a cigarette!

In this wintry years, we do stock check,
How the days of our lives have been,
We sometimes feel nostalgic and sometimes remorse,
Of past events which we have kept in store!

Now, with the battered body through the years,
Almost every thing that we have come to a grinding halt;
Very reluctantly we succumb ourselves to endure,
The on-coming pain until we are called upon to rest!
