When seniors gather around the morning coffee table,
Their faces all beaming with joy and laughter;
They chat on diverse topics,
Ranging from families to politics;
They re-live their lives in past bygone years,
Sharing their joy, fear and tears;
They lean on one another for comfort and support,
Which their families have not given a thought;
Time flies and soon each has to depart,
Observe the silence and sadness in each heart;
Will they meet each other tomorrow?
This thought overwhelms them with sorrow;
This parting can be their last farewell,
No one knows and none can foretell!
