Let us have some cheese bites today.
The Life-Pointer says “Knock before you enter a room and look at the floor before you use the broom!”
This is an excellent advice and maxim to follow. To be polite and courteous, we must knock before we enter someone’s room, especially your superior officer”s. This is polite etiquette which we must observe before we enter someone’s room. It is just to ensure that we do not wish to surprise or shock the occupant in the room. We just want to make our presence known to whoever is in the room.
The second half of the Pointer says “Look at the floor before you use the room”. The purpose of using a “broom” is to sweep away dirt, dust…..old unwanted things! This is good advice especially for those who have just been promoted in our area of work. Many of our colleagues know “New broom sweeps well.” Think twice before we launch our new project. It is better to sound it out and prepare the ground before launching.
Hence, I link the two ideas together “Knock before you enter a room and look at the floor before you use the broom!” This is and advice (or warning) which we ought to think about. Perhaps you have other views.
